Alan Macgeee
Alan Magee was born in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He attended art school in Philadelphia and began his career as an illustrator doing covers for Time magazine, the New York times, New York and Atlantic Monthly. He also illustrated book covers for Bantam, Ballantine and Simon and Shuster books. Alan received awards from the Society of Illustrators and an American Book Award in 1982. In the late 1970’s, Alan Magee began to concentrate on his personal paintings, drawings and woven paintings (tapestries). His first solo exhibition in New York City was at the prestigious Staempfli Gallery. His works can be seen in the collections of The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Arkansas Art Center, the Columbus Museum of Art.
